There are a number of hiking trails in the area surrounding Reykir, one of which is the trek to Glerhallavík (Chalcedony bay – or quartz bay), as the name indicates here you will discover stunning examples of chalcedony washed up on the shore.   You can also walk over the mountain Tindastóll, or walk from Saudarkrók to Reykir.  There is nothing like a nice dip in the hot spring pool after a challenging trek.  The trek over Tindastóll from Laxárdal takes you past the wishing pool where on mid-summers night the wishing stone floats to the surface and you can then make a wish; there is a proviso though, once having made the wish you can not look back on your way down – no matter what!  There is a lot to see and do at Reykir.
