Discover the Magic of Drangey Island

Embark on an unforgettable adventure to Drangey Island—a breathtaking blend of sightseeing, birdwatching, sailing, and hiking, all guided by passionate local experts.

Your journey begins with a scenic boat ride from Sauðárkrókur marina, followed by a guided hike up a man-made path that winds along the island’s dramatic cliffs. Along the way, you’ll get remarkably close to puffins and other seabirds, often resting just meters from the trail.

As you ascend, our knowledgeable guides bring the island’s rich history to life, sharing tales of Grettir the Strong, the legendary Viking outlaw who once took refuge here, as well as stories of how the island’s natural resources have been used through the ages.
